Emily's Ghost : a novel of the Brontë sisters

by Denise Giardina

What hold do the Brontë sister’s seem to have over some of us that we just cannot seem to get enough of their stories or lives? Don’t you wish sometimes there was more of their angst filled love stories? Maybe there were at one time, but they are now lost to us. Aren’t we glad there are authors like Denise Giardina to help us get our fix!

This gentle read is a fictional biography of the Brontë siblings which solidly follows with what is known of the life and writings of this family. If you love books written by the Brontë sister’s you will enjoy seeing how Giardina shows us the correlation between their real lives and what they wrote, but this is not the only reason to read this book. Giardina’s portrayal of mid 19th century England adds to insights that may encourage you to search out more information of this time and the Brontës.

Easy Sunday afternoon read.

EAT, PRAY, LOVE
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert will be the next book discussed by the FOWPL Book Club. An intensely articulate and moving memoir of self-discovery, Eat, Pray, Love is about what can happen when you claim responsibility for your own contentment and stop trying to live in imitation of society’s ideals. It is certain to touch anyone who has ever woken up to the unrelenting need for change.
The group will meet

Betty Blevins’ home located at 4250 Mockingbird Court in West Point
Come join us in discovering this interesting book.
